Did you know that salary scales can help retain and attract new early childhood educators? A salary scale takes education and experience into consideration and increases over time, promoting career growth. Early childhood educators should have a clear path to success that allows them to thrive in their communities.
Stipends can start working immediately to put extra money in the pockets of the teachers we have and recruit the teachers we need the most. That means extra support for all early childhood educators, with additional funds for multilingual teachers and those working in Head Start, infant, and toddler programs.
Educators need and deserve quality benefits. Yet, less that 20 percent of early educators receive health care benefits as part of their jobs. Parents and providers are already stretched thin. To support early childhood education, we need statewide investment.
