Faculty will evaluate the statement according to the following criteria. Your statement should demonstrate:

The strength of your writing skills
A summary of your long-term professional and educational goals
Your professional knowledge has a theoretical base, as evidenced by appropriate citations from sources relevant to your field of study
Your reasons for pursuing this graduate degree, including the relationship between your professional goals and your graduate study
The degree to which your background experiences have prepared you for the program
The degree to which your personal beliefs will support excellence and motivation in the program
Your commitment to advanced study and educational success
Your mission for education in the 21st century

This writing sample serves as an indicator of your ability to communicate professionally. It should be error free. At least two readers from the graduate faculty will score your essay. This is your opportunity to persuade the readers that you have potential to become an effective school leader.
