The 27J INSIGHT Alternative Licensure Program is designed for people starting a teaching career after college or switching from another profession. This one-year program lets you teach full-time while earning your license, combining hands-on classroom experience with coursework, coaching and mentorship.
The program supports you through:

  • Job-embedded coaching– Get real-time support while teaching.
  • Coursework– Learn effective, culturally responsive teaching practices.
  • Mentorship & collaboration– Work closely with experienced educators.
  • Flexible learning– Use the district’s four day workweek to complete coursework and professional development on your off-day. 


The program follows Colorado Teacher Quality Standards and prepares educators to meet the needs of today’s learners. Eligibility requirements include: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university
  • 24 credit hours in your subject area or passing Praxis exam (for K–12/secondary)
  • Be hired full-time as a Teacher of Record in early childhood, secondary or special education
