Program Info

Interested in teaching but not yet licensed? The Alternative Licensure Teacher Program offers a unique opportunity to begin teaching while completing your teacher preparation coursework. This two-year program allows you to:

  • Earn a full-time salary
  • Take classes outside of regular school hours
  • Put your new skills into practice as you go

To be eligible for the program, you must be hired into a teaching position within the Douglas County School District.

Alternative licensure may be a great fit if you:

  • Recently earned an undergraduate degree but haven’t completed a teacher preparation program.
  • Are transitioning from another career and want to make a meaningful impact in education.
