I appreciate being in a community of educators who are striving to be the best at what they do within a values driven organization. Most importantly I love my students and the community of southwest Denver and to see my students matriculate in 4 year colleges and universities, a majority of whom will be the first in their families to attend.

    Why I Teach

I enjoy teaching at DSST because I am fully committed to our mission to end educational inequity and I believe our school is set up to work towards that goal with urgency. I feel supported and challenged to deliver excellence to my students and I feel my students respond to that challenge with their best work.

    About DSST Public Schools

    • About

DSST Public Schools is a network of middle and high schools located in Denver and Aurora, Colorado. We foster school communities where our students and staff become the best versions of themselves. As part of a values-driven organization with a deliberately integrated community, our schools serve students from all walks of life. Our six core values, respect, responsibility, integrity, doing your best, curiosity and courage are truly embedded in everything we do and are central to our strong academic results.

DSST Public Schools transform urban public education by eliminating educational inequity and preparing all students for success in college and the 21st century.  At the core of our approach are strong and meaningful relationships, fostered in small schools, that ensure every student and staff member is known and valued for their unique contributions. Through this whole child approach, we operate many of the top middle and high schools in the city of Denver. But the true success has been that 100% of our graduating seniors have been accepted into college since the first graduating class in 2004. You can read more about our campuses and network demographics on our website: https://www.dsstpublicschools.org/dsst-numbers

Every teacher at DSST is paired with an instruction coach who collaborates with them one on one to support their growth and development through observation and feedback. Teachers at DSST also partner with teachers across the DSST network as a part of content based professional learning teams.

For those interested in starting a career in teaching, DSST has built several pathways to support your entry into the profession. DSST's Apprentice Teacher Program builds a yearly cohort of educators committed to working in high-performing, integrated public schools. Whether you are a new graduate or a career changer, our Apprentice Teacher program can jumpstart your career in education!
