Fowler School District R4J is located along the Arkansas River and the U.S. 50 corridor, 28 miles east of Pueblo. It is home to many farmers and ranchers who have some of the finest irrigated and dry-land acreage and scenic ranches in the region.
The school district has a tremendous tradition in both academics and athletics and provides a nurturing and engaging learning environment dedicated to developing respectful, responsible and caring students who strive for excellence in all areas. It is an accredited district through the Colorado Department of Education.
In sports, Fowler R4J has 31 state championships. The district participates in Division 2A in football, basketball, golf, volleyball, wrestling, baseball and track. In just the past few years, the district has produced four Boettcher Scholars and five Daniels Scholars–Colorado’s top state-wide honors for high school seniors.
Fowler Schools operate on a five-day schedule and offer full-day kindergarten. The mission is “Bringing Excellence to Students,” and that is achieved, in part, by offering small class sizes and encouraging high expectations for students. Fowler R4J has highly qualified teachers at all levels. The elementary, junior high and high school all compete in local, regional and national competitions. Additional programs include Gifted & Talented, Vocal & Instrumental Music, Special Education, Art, FFA, FBLA, and National Honor Society.
Teacher salaries start at $33,000, R4J accepts all years of relevant teaching experience. We offer opportunities to coach athletics or sponsor extracurricular activities. We operate a five-day week schedule with seven periods at the JH/HS. You'll have a difficult time finding a better atmosphere to be a teacher.
