Through the years, Pawnee School District RE-12 has prospered and advanced with the times. The school district continues to be a staple in the Grover community and surrounding area, educating students in preparation for a world far larger than the small hardworking, salt of the earth, ranch community from whence they came.

Our district has seen many changes in its 110 years of existence. The following information is a narrative of both the Pawnee School District and its community of Grover:
The town of Grover began as a stop along the cattle trail in 1889 and contained little more than a very small general store and post office. Later it became a railroad stop on a line between Sterling, Colo. and Cheyenne, Wyo. The town grew to include a small, one-room school house, a meat locker, a lumber yard, a doctor’s office, a barber and an opera house.
As the population of the town and surrounding area grew, a new and larger school house was built and was then known as Grover School. Over the years, smaller area school along with several country schools in the area closed and students were then transported to Grover to be educated. The Grover School has continued to evolve through the years. The school is now known as Pawnee School RE-12, home of the Coyotes and located in newer buildings constructed in 1999.
