About Rocky Mountain Prep
Rocky Mountain Prep (RMP) is a network of public charter schools enrolling students in PK-5 in Denver and Aurora. RMP opened its first school in 2012 with 130 students, and in the 2019-20 school year enrolls more than 1,900 students across four campuses.
Our mission is for every child to realize their full potential through a rigorous and loving elementary education. We know potential is everywhere but opportunity is not. We believe all children deserve access to a great public education. Our commitment to equity and academic rigor means that we help every student achieve. Our culture of love and inclusion means that we welcome, support and challenge everyone with kindness and respect. Together, our mission and vision help us create an environment to set students up for success throughout their schooling and beyond.
All RMP students receive personalized learning through our rigorous, college-prep curriculum. Our focus on math and literacy education, as well as the sciences and the arts, ensures that all RMP scholars are prepared for success in secondary schools and four-year colleges.
All of our work is guided by our PEAK core values: Perseverance, Excellence, Adventure, and Kindness. We believe that clear and consistent values for scholars and staff, and a strong culture rooted in those values, form the foundation of great schools.
For the last five years, RMP Creekside has had the highest math proficiency of all Denver Public Schools elementary schools where more than 50% of students qualify for Free or Reduced Lunch. RMP Fletcher, our first school in Aurora Public Schools and our first turnaround, has the highest math proficiency of all charter schools in Aurora and the third highest of all schools in the district.
While strong test scores have led us to be one of Denver's highest-performing elementary schools, the happiness and joy our scholars—and our staff—feel coming to school truly sets us apart.
We seek teachers and staff who are interested in developing students into outstanding human beings in their academic and personal lives by role modeling our culture of Rigor and Love. Work collaboratively with their teammates and seek feedback, coaching, and mentorship from their admin team and school community. Implement our data-driven curriculum with the tools they’ve gained from experience while they adapt to the needs of their students.
We know amazing talent is the most important factor in supporting our scholars and our community, and we firmly believe our commitment to staff wellness and culture plays a significant role in helping us achieve our results.
At RMP, we live a culture of love. To us, love means holding people to high expectations because we care deeply about their success and we know they are capable of outstanding accomplishments. Because we love our staff and scholars, we also forgive mistakes and teach kindness to both ourselves and others. Because we love RMP, we want to fill each day with joy and excitement and demonstrate what this means to us as part of teaching in Colorado and the RMP family.
All of our teachers receive more than 250 hours of professional development each year during half-day Fridays and special network-wide data days.
Additionally, as of this year, the RMP network has implemented a new social-emotional learning practice from Valor Collegiate Academies known as Compass Circles. The overarching goal is that through this age-appropriate, self-directed, competency-based, social-emotional learning curriculum, students develop a deep sense of who they are and an understanding of the purpose in their lives. Students are taught relational skills, including how to productively express their emotions, resonate with others, share with vulnerability and build safety and belonging for others. Staff also participate in regular Compass Circles with their campus team.
