About

​​The Colorado School of Mines (Mines) is a public university located in Golden, Colorado. For 150 years, its STEM-focused education and research have produced the talent, knowledge and solutions that serve industry and benefit society, all with the goal of creating a more prosperous future. Teach@Mines is the only teacher preparation program in Colorado dedicated exclusively to training STEM teachers. The teaching licenses offered include science, mathematics and the first computer science licensure program in the State of Colorado. Three pathways to licensure are available: a minor, a BS in Design Engineering with a STEM Teaching Focus Area, and an MS in STEM Education. Additionally, a combined BS/MS program is offered, allowing students to graduate in five years.

The Master of Science in STEM Education at the Colorado School of Mines gives you unparalleled access to world-class faculty, partnerships with local high schools, and an action-oriented approach focused on discovery and hands-on learning. Earning a master’s degree is not only a sign of professional development for you as a teacher, but it can also help increase your salary.

Mines offers a two-semester program that results in both a master’s degree and teacher licensure upon successful completion. To be eligible, you must have 24 credits in math, science, engineering, or computer science coursework, or relevant work experience, along with a related Bachelor’s degree. As a graduate of this program, you’ll contribute to the advancement of your field by adopting, applying, and evaluating state-of-the-art practices. Your expertise will be in high demand, recognized for being technologically advanced and up-to-date with the latest research.
