About

The Public Education and Business Coalition (PEBC) is a Denver-based non-profit organization that recruits, develops and advocates for teachers. PEBC is Colorado's largest Residency program, having prepared over 1,000 highly effective teachers across Colorado. Today, PEBC offers five pathways to teaching:

  1. Traditional Residency Pathway
  2. Teacher of Record Pathway
  3. Special Education Pathway
  4. Pre-Bachelor’s Pathway
  5. New American Pathway

As a PEBC Teacher Residency participant, you will be trained over one year and supported by expert instructors and coaches committed to your success. Residency experiences are offered in public, private and charter schools in rural, urban and suburban schools across Colorado. PEBC welcomes culturally diverse candidates, including multilingual learners.

Teacher of Record Pathway

The Teacher of Record Pathway is an outstanding opportunity to jumpstart your teaching career. If you have a bachelor's degree in any field and experience working with children in a classroom, this unique pathway allows you to:

  • Secure a position as a lead teacher.
  • Smoothly transition from an Alternative Teaching License to an Initial Professional License with the support of PEBC through CDE-approved coaching and coursework.

What sets this program apart is the unparalleled support you'll receive. PEBC works closely with hiring schools to assign a dedicated mentor within your building, and you'll also receive continuous guidance from PEBC coaches. This combination ensures that you're never alone on your journey—whether participating in online classes, completing coursework, or benefiting from in-person classroom visits by your coach.

The benefits don't stop there. Upon completing the program, you'll have access to five years of professional development through PEBC, enhancing your skills and career prospects. Plus, you'll earn transferable master's credits from one of PEBC's six esteemed partner universities, giving you a head start on further educational achievements.

Description

Grants, Stipends, Scholarships

  • As a Teacher of Record, you will be paid through your hiring school or district.
  • Educator Recruitment and Retention Program (ERR): Most Teachers of Record will be eligible for the ERR program and will not owe PEBC any out-of-pocket costs. Learn more.
  • If you are not eligible for the Educator Recruitment and Retention Program, you will receive a $2,000 discount on the program fee. The fee is broken into monthly installments throughout your program.
