The NxtGEN Undergraduate Residency BA program is a unique para-to-teacher program designed to support diverse, local students to return to their Denver metro-area communities to teach.  The program began with Denver Public Schools and is now expanding to Jeffco, Aurora and other metro-area districts. Students serve as part-time paid para-educator interns in local district partner schools and later as full-time student teaching residents in the final year.   Students receive additional high-level supports through a summer bridge experience, NxtGEN cohort meetings, access to the SEHD Success Center, and 1-1 mentoring. Students learn best practices from dedicated teachers, school administrators and award-winning faculty in residency programs perfected and proven over more than 25 years of ongoing work with partner schools. Deep preparation and community connections help our graduates stand out. They are recognized as among the most prepared in the nation to support diverse languages, cultures and abilities in schools.
