Program Info

This program focuses on school-based experiences, educational theory, and content coursework to prepare preservice teachers for a career in education. Choose from one of three programs:  

  • Elementary Grades K-6 (with a Culturally & Linguistically Diverse Endorsement) 
  • Early Childhood (Birth-Age 8) 
  • Special Education (Ages 5-21) with a variety of exceptionalities.  

Through meaningful coursework and ongoing school-based experiences, students connect theory, research and practice. 95 percent of our graduates find a job placement at graduation.

Our students come from a wide variety of backgrounds, including: 

  • 70 percent teacher candidates of color
  • 95 percent first-generation college students
  • 70 percent transfer students
  • 35 percent teacher candidates are parents

As a Center for Urban Education student, you will work in schools as a paraprofessional in the mornings and take college coursework in the afternoons

Colorado Opportunity Scholarship Initiative

Approximately $1,500/semester minimum; additional award based on need/cost of attendance gap; available to teacher candidates who earn their degree in 2 or 3 years.
