Teachers in the Hayden Schools are dedicated to providing the absolute best to our students. The district offers a variety of professional development opportunities for teachers. Our district has partnered with Marzano Research/Marzano Resources to work towards certification as a High Reliability School. Marzano periodically provides professional development to our staff on-site. Our district also uses Marzano’s Instructional Framework to define and evaluate effective teaching pedagogy.
Additionally, we partner with Northwest Colorado BOCES for a wide range of professional development opportunities for teachers based on our regional needs, district/school needs and even individual teacher needs. Opportunities through BOCES include COLLAB (regional networking/training day), online courses, personalized coaching, group/team cohort trainings, etc.
Teachers designate at least one day each month for collaborative time to review their curriculum and plan their instruction.
You'll receive support from an instructional coach to help meet your professional goals, as well as district/school determined goals. All teachers have dedicated time to meet with their teaching team to analyze data and plan their instruction accordingly through the Professional Learning Communities (PLC) strategy. Our teachers can be reimbursed for continuing education tuition through a Teacher Retention Grant the district recently received.
Teachers new to our district participate in our annual New Teacher Orientation, which includes professional development regarding instructional pedagogy and our curriculum development and design process. New teachers are assigned a mentor teacher to assist them in their success within our district.
